Generate Clarke Belt Snapshot

Many thousands of satellites are orbiting the Earth. A part of them is open for public access through their orbit elements. This way every person interested in predicting satellite orbits has the chance to do it.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) developed the Two-Line Element (TLE) format that contains the orbital parameters. This is a structured format intended to be very compact. It is, therefore, difficult to read unless you are familiar with the structure.

Two-Line Elements (TLE) is a common data format used for specify the orbital parameters of a satellite. The orbital parameters of a satellite occupy two lines of text. A TLE file contains many pairs of orbital parameters each pair corresponding to a specific satellite.

The TLE files may be retrieved from "Celestrak" where Dr. T.S. Kelso is kindly providing a lot of actual Two-Line files. The satellites are organized into groups and each group is building one file which may be downloaded.

To generate Clarke Belt Snapshot is necessary to obtain the specific TLE file. This experimental utility uses geostationary Two-Line Elements file to generate a table with satellite longitudes and inclination. The satellites position are obtained using NORAD SGP4/SDP4 prediction models.

The "Look Angles" can also be obtained. Enter city, latitude and longitude if you wish to calculate "Look Angles", otherwise click in "Generate Table" button to generate a table with satellite longitude and inclination.
